Currently (2007-Present)


  • Since joining Newstalk 106 to 108fm in September 2007 he has made economic issues accessible without compromising detail, accuracy or insight.
  • In August 2009 he was given his own critically acclaimed groundbreaking show “Coleman at Large”, which is now broadcast each Tuesday and Wednesday from 10pm.
  • He writes a weekly economics column for the Sunday Independent with over 1 million readers.

 

Irish Times Economics Editor (2005-2007)

  • In 2005 Marc used insights from his time at the ECB and Dep’t of Finance (see below) to revolutionize coverage of Ireland’s economy, reporting the impact of Ireland’s credit boom on competitiveness, employment, public finances and the housing market in a fresh, accessible and responsible way.
  • As well as breaking the first interview with ECB President Trichet and WEF chairman Klaus Schwab, Marc broke news of both 2006 and 2007 budgets. His opinion pieces were widely read and credited with influencing social partnership talks and government tax policy in the 2006 and 2007 budgets.
  • His coverage of the economic debate in the 2007 election was ground breaking and he forced the then Finance Minister to respond to one of his articles which warned of an impending fiscal collapse.

 

MBA (2004-2005):

  • GMAT score of 730, Marc was one of two students to be awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Smurfit MBA programme
  • Thesis was on “Reporting economic news in the media”.

 

European Central Bank (1997-2004):

  • Worked on Convergence Report in 1997/1998 in MES division
  • Joined Monetary Policy Division in 1999 and co-ordinated selection and reporting & programming of key data to the ECB council
  • On own request transferred to Irish economy desk in ECB’s Fiscal Policy Division

 

Department of Finance (1994-1997):

  • Reporting key economic developments to line management
  • Overhauling & updating the Department’s internal and external reports.
  • Co-ordinated government responses to IMF and OECD
  • Rapporteur to the EMU Steering Group.
